WEIGHBRIDGE FOUNDATION INSTALLATION PROJECTS

Our Nationwide Groundworks Ability

Last year, we were instructed to install pit frame weighbridge foundations and frames at a number of Distribution Centres across the country.

Whilst not mandatory, weighbridges provide an effective means of ensuring vehicles remain within legal weight limits before leaving site. However, achieving accurate and reliable results depends on the correct groundworks and drainage being installed beforehand.

Scope of Works

At each site, our excavations team installed reinforced concrete pads in the forecourt to hold the axle scales. The scope of works also included marking, cutting and breaking out channels to install electric duct, so the electricians could put in the new power supply.

Furthermore, we also had to connect the new foul drain to the existing one.

The Challenges on a Live Site

The difficulty was in breaking out the concrete because it was so deep and reinforced from years of heavy goods vehicles using the busy, live site.

Additionally, working on live distribution centre requires careful planning and serious health and safety considerations to minimise disruption and ensure safe working practices for both our employees and those on the site.

Delivering Accurate Foundations

The accuracy of a weighbridge begins below ground.

Achieving stable foundations is essential to ensure the weighbridge remains accurate and can withstand continual heavy vehicle loading without movement or settlement. Precision at every stage of the installation was therefore a key priority for our team.

Although this project was slightly different to our usual work, it highlights the versatility of our teams and our ability to deliver specialist groundworks projects of the highest standard.
