Drainage Consultancy: Flow Analysis for a School in Bath
Our drainage consultancy services were employed by our client, the Girls Day School Trust, to investigate and advise on the direction of flow in a particular area of the Royal High School Bath.
We can provide drainage consultancy on specific areas on a site where there are concerns and then advise on issues, resolution and best practice.
Why Understanding Drainage Flow Matters
Understanding the direction of the flow and the current capacity level is valuable to understand ahead of a refurbishment or expansion.
It can advise on:
- Design integration
- Regulatory compliance
- Environmental risk
- Cost avoidance
Understanding these factors from the outset allows for more informed drainage decisions, avoid expensive retrofits and prevent future operational issues.
Our Strategy
By carrying out dye testing on specific sections of the system and observing the flow, we were able to confirm the direction and identify the manholes used for discharge.
Upon our assessment of the area, we found the system to generally be in good working order. However, a few displaced joints were discovered which may be contributing to blockages within the area. We advised these are repaired to prevent further deterioration and increased blockages.
Our teams are experienced working on site in a range of different sectors. All of our drainage engineers are DBS checked so are able to work at schools and education centres, in addition to being trained and qualified to the highest standard so they can work safely and efficiently.
The Outcome
We provided the inspection the day after the client got in touch, and we provided the report on a fast turnaround to meet their requirements.
The report provided a detailed plan of the drainage flow, along with images and recommended costs for the displaced joints.
